When it was clear that our youth club was going to have to stop due to the Covid-19 outbreak, we began to think about how we could support the community during this challenging period. At the time we were running a Forest School with some of the G20 young people in The Children's Wood and we came up with the idea of a food project to support local vulnerable people and those self-isolating. The G20 young people came up with the catchy name Food From The Wood.
To cut a long story short, very quickly we started this project and it was clear that there were many people who needed support. We have been growing and are continually striving to meet demand and deliver professionally cooked healthy meals, made by the talented chef Charles Cameron, to local people. The young people who came up with the idea have taken ownership of the project and have turned up to every delivery day. We have fed 100's of people and see that our work will carry on for some time.
The Lord Provost Cllr Bratt and our local councillors Franny Scally and John Letford have joined us for deliveries. We've been overwhelmed by support from the local community and the young people. You can see some of the coverage here
